Coursesetter's clinic: Each year a number members have requested an opportunity to learn more about being a course setter or meet director for one of our local meets. The club always needs more individuals willing to do these jobs.
With this in mind we will be offering members a chance to attend a workshop day on Sunday, March 23 from 2-5 at 874 Edgemere Drive. We will offer each workshop twice so that people may attend both sessions. The workshops will run around an hour with a short break for refreshments in between the sessions.
Please RSVP via e-mail by Thursday night so that we can prepare enough materials for all the participants. Our house can be reached by taking Rt. 390N to Latta Road exit. Turn right on Latta and take the first left on to Island Cottage Road. Follow Island Cottage to Edgemere Drive (Schallers Restaurant) and bear right to the curve in the road. We are the brown stucco house with the brown picket fence on your left. CAll 581-2979 if you get disoriented.

Again this year, Laurie Sallidan and Dick Detwiler will be teaching a 6-session orienteering course. It is offered through the Webster Continuing Ed program. The first session is Monday, April 28. There will be six sessions (no class on Memorial Day). The last class session is June 9. This class assumes no knowledge of orienteering, and covers beginning (White course), advanced beginning (Yellow course), and intermediate (Orange course) skills and concepts. It alternates classroom and outdoor sessions (session 1 is in the classroom, session 2 outdoors, session 3 in the classroom, etc.). The first two outdoor sessions are at Webster Park and the third outdoor session is at Irondequoit Bay Park West.
The cost is only $22 for the six sessions ($11 for seniors). Webster continuing ed program web site gives information on how to register.
*Important Note: The dates of the class that are shown on the web site are incorrect, it shows it starting April 7. This was an error in the booklet; the correct starting date is April 28.
To register, contact the continuing ed office at:
Webster High School H. W. Schroeder Building
875 Ridge Road Webster, New York 14580
    Phone: 670-5037 or 670-5039

Updated information about 1/11 Ski-O: The conditions for the Saturday Ski-O at Mendon Ponds look pretty good. The base is good and hopefully there will be some new snow before noon Saturday. Only the main 5K loop and the north meadow are groomed for skating. The rest of the trails are skiable but not tracked. This may change depending on the ambition of the Park staff. Updates will be available at the start. The length of courses are as follows: Blue - 13 KM (Mens Open); Red -10 KM (Womens Open, Mens Masters); Orange - 7.5 KM;(Scholastic Boys and Girls); White - 3.3 KM (Non -competitive beginners course).
