Webster Park - Classic Event

Location:  Webster Park - Valley View Shelter

Registration: 11:45am to 1:15pm

Starts: Noon to 1:30; Courses Close at 3:00

Courses Available:

Beginner: 1.4km, 8 controls, 20m climb

Advanced Beginner: 2.1km, 9 controls, 35m climb

Intermediate: 3.0km, 9 controls, 60m climb

Short Advanced: 3.6km, 8 controls, 55m climb

Advanced: 4.5km, 11 controls, 100m climb

Long Advanced: 6.2km, 13 controls, 120m climb

Course Setter's Notes:

The Webster Map scale is 1:10,000 with 2.5 m contour intervals. All courses except the Long Advanced will remain in Webster Park. The Long-Advanced course map will venture into the Whiting Road Nature Preserve. Take care when crossing Whiting Road where cars might be going fast. The Long-Advanced course map will be printed double sided, while all others will be single sided.

Because it is spring and this is Webster Park, there are some muddy trail sections and some of the green areas will be quicker compared to later in the year once vegetation has filled out. BUT some medium and dark green areas are still tough because of briars. There are numerous deer trails that may be helpful but are not marked on the map. Those doing the advanced courses should consider wearing long sleeve shirts and briar protection. Briars are especially prevalent on the Eastern side of Whiting Road Nature Preserve but can be avoided.

A brown triangle is used for rootstocks on the Webster map. Not all rootstocks are mapped.

There is a recent collection of fallen trees completely blocking a North-South trail that is 250m West of the start/finish controls. Although no course should have to use this trail, it is marked by a bold pink line on the map.

String-O will be available!! Bring your kids (or prepare to unleash the kid inside you). It will be e-punch so bring your sprinting shoes and we will see who earns the fastest string-O time!!

Pre-packaged snacks, fruit and jugs of water/Gatorade will be available.
