Durand East Training #2 – Course notes.

Course setter – Rick Worner

Start – the small parking area with a barricade east of Kings Hwy and west of Zoo Rd.

We put out a new course, hung up 3" x 6” red tags.  This course will be up until May 17.

This course takes you to the far south part of the east side of the park...someplace few ever venture.  The area has some of the best woods in the park...and some of the worst.  When we set the course the wild rose and other thorns had not started to grow but they are getting ready to spring to life.  Mapping is fair with no clearly defined boundaries for the green.  There are some trails but also plenty of deer trails and, although not really mapped, we found them very useful….deer tracks were also evident on the mapped trails.

A couple of things to be aware of…

- the more popular parts of the park have additional trails besides the deer trails.

- there are places where the course comes close to private property,  please use caution when selecting your route.

-the golf course is currently closed (no pins in the holes) but if they do open you will need to stay off the course which may mean skipping 12 & 13 or doing the controls in a totally different order or taking the long way around...you are out for exercise aren't you?

-speaking of exercise...there are quite a few hills.

We hope you enjoy the course and would appreciate any feedback.
